Visions for The Plough…
With “Traditional Plus” at its heart, The Plough will have an overall feeling of warmth and cosiness, combined with some distinctive themes evolving in different spaces.
The oft-mentioned historical links to Duxford will feature in “Spitfire”, with real ales and a leathery ambiance taking centre stage. This area will encompass our more traditional ideas for a village pub and will be situated to the right of the main bar. Themes of WW2 aircraft & history will combine with feelings of warmth, welcome, and comfort to make Spitfire the ideal place to enjoy a glass of traditional ale and a natter with friends old and new.
To the centre of the building is “Plough”, which will feature funky furnishings and a welcoming ambience to ensure everyone feels immediately at home. Our feature bar takes centre stage here with an intriguing variety of ales, wines, spirits and soft drinks on display. With the warmth of natural materials featuring strongly, and with a wood-burning stove adding to its cosy glow, Plough will be an easy place to relax and indulge.
The importance of good music is central to our thinking. Never overpowering, but very much part of the atmosphere, music of all varieties will always feature throughout The Plough. These themes will be to the fore in “Mandolin”, where the décor will reflect our love of all things musical. A small corner stage will feature regular performances from all parts of the musical spectrum. Solo pianists, acoustic duos, string quartets, small bands, from the worlds of jazz, blues, classical, and much, much more will be a regular feature in Mandolin.
“Meadow” will gently lead you through to our outdoor areas and will have a feeling of being in the sunshine, whatever the weather. A light, airy feel will feature here and will be the ideal space to enjoy a “summer lunch”, at any time of year.
