Shepreth is a village that over recent decades has sadly lost many of its community facilities, including its school, shop, and post office. Along with our nearby friends at Teacake, who provide a valuable facility, much loved by both locals and visitors to Shepreth, we aim to fly the flag for community life in the centre of the village. It is therefore important to us that The Plough can act as a social space that fulfils a number of community functions.
Businesses and local groups
The spaces at The Plough, particularly those on the first floor, are designed to be as flexible as possible, and are available to village groups and local businesses for meetings and events. The Plough is a great environment for such purposes – what better way to round off a meeting than with a working lunch or a relaxing drink? Please get in touch if you’d like to enquire about any of our spaces, which can be adapted to suit a range of functions.
We strongly believe in encouraging a sustainable transport policy at The Plough. Not only do we seek to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible, but we are also looking to promote the rural pub generally as an accessible alternative to city centre leisure. Shepreth is fortunate in having a well-served railway station, which is less than a five-minute walk from The Plough. Walking or cycling to The Plough is also encouraged – after all, it’s free and very good for you!
