Following weeks of hard work by our Plough builders, fitters, and chefs, The Plough Kitchen is up and running!
Our “Guinea Pig Night” last Thursday saw thirty willing volunteers test-drive our new menu, and we’d like to thank everyone who came along for their honest and encouraging feedback.
You can now view our menu online, and call or email us to book a table in advance. Our food options will be constantly evolving, as we aim to consistently provide an interesting and balanced choice, including our “Plough Plates of the Week”, which will be regularly updated.
The Kitchen’s open hours are as follows:
Monday – Friday: 12pm – 2.30pm / 6pm – 9.30pm
Saturday: 12pm – 9.30pm
Sunday: 12pm – 9pm
On the topic of much anticipated arrivals, our Coffee Machine is also now in business – filled with the finest beans from our friends at Hot Numbers in Cambridge – whilst Fuller’s London Pride and Moonshine’s Heavenly Matter are our newest national and local guest ales.
We continue to welcome your comments and suggestions regarding everything we do here at The Plough, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on our new arrivals.
You can see some ‘Before’, ‘During’, and ‘After’ shots in our Photo Gallery, providing a look back on how things have changed since this all began.
Next thing on our list? How about some live music…
A huge thank you to everybody who came and welcomed us during our opening week! Your compliments and good wishes (both in person and online) have been fantastic, and we hope to give you a lot more to get excited about over the coming weeks…
For those of you who missed it, or simply want to relive the event, our good local friends As A Button Productions have put together a short video of our opening day that you can watch here.
Although we already feel nicely settled in, as ever, there is still a lot more to come. Having had the bar running (fairly) smoothly for over a week now, coffee machines, WiFi, and live music are just some of the things we will be concentrating on next.
One aspect that many of you have been most interested in is, of course, the kitchen. We’re currently aiming to have our full food menu up and running by early August, and in the meantime we will continue to offer our “build-your-own” deli boards and sandwiches during the week, and our “all weather” barbecues at the weekend.
Whilst work is ongoing, we’ll continue to be open from Monday-Friday 11am-3pm then 5pm-11pm, Saturday 11am-11pm, and Sunday 12pm-10.30pm.
If you have any questions, requests, bookings, or just want to get something off your chest, don’t hesitate to let us know via Facebook, Twitter, email or phone.
Hello Ploughsters! Due to a couple of large spanners arriving in our work programme this week (one of which was Monday’s nasty thunderstorm), we are now opening our doors for a first look on Saturday 5th July at noon. We know many of you are itching to get a look but we want to make sure we have as much in place and working before we welcoming you. Hold fast – we’ll be along very soon……..
We hope you’ll forgive our radio silence over the past few weeks – we’ve been working full pelt, and can now reveal that as of midday on Saturday 5thth July 2014, after a ten-year absence, the bar at The Plough will be open for business once again. We’re calling it ‘The Plough First Look’: an initial chance for us to give you all a flavour of everything we’ve been working on.
The pub will open from midday on Saturday 5th July. All are welcome to come along and sample our selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. We’re working on the music and we’ll see if we can find some nibbles for when you get a little peckish.
It is likely that there will be limited space in the pub car park, so in order not to clog up Shepreth High Street too much (which we’ve already been guilty of – Sorry!), we’ve kindly been offered the Village Hall car park for overflow. We also recommend the use of lift shares, bicycles, or even a good old-fashioned pair of feet – remember we’re a five-minute walk from the station.
Those of you living locally will continue to see us working like mad (as, perhaps, we are) up until the date, but fear not; we’re committed to opening our shiny new doors as soon as we can. Thank you very much to you all for your continued patience and support; we’re looking forward to showing you some results!
Shepreth Summer Fair
For anyone who just can’t wait that long to see us, don’t forget that you can come and say ‘hello’ at the Shepreth Summer Fair this Saturday 21st June at the Village Hall. The event will feature an array of stalls from 2pm to 5pm, followed by live music from 7pm, with the bar provided by our very own “Pop-Up-Plough” throughout.
It’s going to be a busy few weeks (we wouldn’t want it any other way) and we hope you’re as excited as we are!
Well, a little behind schedule, but we have now finally arrived on the internet. I guess Lucy and I have been somewhat myopic in our design approach, constantly revising and detailing, and never being completely satisfied with the results. We’re now however, reasonably happy with what we’ve produced but of course, will continually revise, add and update the content. We hope you like our initial efforts, and find the content useful and interesting. It’s quite difficult writing about a pub and business that doesn’t yet exist! We’ve tested pretty rigorously but please let us know if anything unexpected or confusing happens.
As many of you know, our Phase 1 Planning Application has now been submitted, details of which are available on this site, and we would urge you to take a look. Initial responses have been very encouraging and our sincere thanks to those of you that have already written to South Cambs District Council in support. As always, please get in touch with us should you have any comments or concerns.
Our mailing list is now up and running and we would be pleased to add anyone interested to our group. We’ll catch our breath a little before we send out our first newsletter, but if anyone would like to submit an article for consideration, please get in touch.
Its been an interesting few weeks at the Plough… Full steam ahead!!
The enormity of this project has finally hit home! Trudging around the soggy garden and dusting out the cobwebs ready to make a start!
This weekend heralds the first look for the locals… Nick & Robin cordially invite local residents to pop down and peruse their plans for the Plough! Our good friends at Elgood’s have kindly offered to provide a little sample of the great things to come, alongside a few friendly faces and the opportunity to ‘Get Involved!’
Your feedback and support has been fantastic… Thank you!
So we made it to the other side of Christmas…. With a rather large extended family and 18 for lunch… things could have gone either way!
The New Year brings the Plough a little closer as we buckle down, put our heads together and start building the dream… Batting ideas back and forth, we are excited to announce that the first draft of our intentions for the Plough will be available soon!
From Websites and Menus to Live Music and Lighting… The challenge begins!
